Berkshire Consulting’s successful growth over the past five years has been funded internally. Most of our employees spending the majority of their time working on developing, maintaining or servicing technology.

What sparked the creation of Berkshire Consulting:
A desire to create a professional services firm that is unique and readily distinguishable from our competitors. We offer our E3 (enjoyable, entrepreneurial and equitable) environment to our employees. We measure our success by our clients’ success, enabling improved agility, ability to obtain or maintain competitive advantage, and higher levels of project management expertise. Everyone at Berkshire Consulting, including the principals, work as if we are one of our clients’ employees in terms of dedication and commitment to the project and our ability to work within a team.

Company’s mission:
Our mission is to deliver high quality, results-oriented services by executing information technology solutions that improve our clients’ business. We offer an entrepreneurial work arrangement for our consultants that aligns with and compliments their drive to deliver value and exceed our clients’ expectations. We deliver all solutions in the context of the importance we place on communication, structured approach, and knowledge transfer.

Company’s biggest challenge/how it is handled:
Berkshire Consulting values our people above everything else. They are the key to enhancing and maintaining our image and excellent reputation, and have the knowledge and experience that will keep us successful well into the future. Because our profile of an ideal employee is very specific, attracting and retaining qualified service professionals at a rate that aligns with the results of successful marketing strategy execution remains our biggest challenge. We have been and will continue to be defined by our emphasis on relationships, and rely on word-of-mouth marketing and referrals. We are beginning to implement aspects of our marketing strategy that will increase our name recognition. We are also focusing on IT-specific networking events to help find qualified professionals to join our team.

What company will look like in three years:
Forrester Research predicts increased competition for experienced project management personnel. Gartner indicates that IT job roles related to analysis, architecture and project management contribute most strongly to success. More and more CxOs are recognizing that project management as a business discipline is important to the strategic survival of their organization. We deliver services in a dynamic marketplace. Berkshire Consulting’s goal is not to be the fastest growing professional services organization; our goal is to grow at a rate that allows us to confirm and align our unique organizational model to our clients’ specific needs in that changing marketplace.

Type of technology the company is developing/serving:
Berkshire Consulting is a WBE-certified professional services organization focused on applying technology to deliver business solutions. We feel it is important to have a strong IT background to lead an IT project. That’s why our consultants average 12 years of IT experience in all aspects of the solution environment. We have both large consulting firm experience and extensive in-house IT backgrounds. We’ve worked on all phases of the systems life cycle and all levels of an IT project. We value strong project management skills; several of our consultants are Project Management Professionals as certified by the Project Management Institute.

How technology will positively impact southeastern Wisconsin:
Technology has helped and always will help businesses accomplish their business objectives in a more effective, efficient manner. Technology today and in the future will have a positive impact on how well businesses know and anticipate their customers' expectations and needs, while pushing the envelope in terms of how a 'customer'  is defined. Technology will play a very important role in integrating key aspects of the business model that have been isolated in the past.

The single most important factor in the company’s success:
Communication with our professionals, potential recruits, clients and business partners. Berkshire Consulting has a unique model that is relatively young. It is essential that everyone that interacts with our organization has a thorough understanding of why it is beneficial to work with and work for Berkshire Consulting. We integrate our communication goals in all of our key organizational processes, from recruiting to marketing to solution delivery.
