Jan is a versatile, results-oriented project management professional with extensive experience delivering high-quality business solutions via effective and confident deployment of technology in a wide range of application development project types, sizes, and phases. She has delivered business solutions as a Program Manager, Project Manager, Resource Manager, Business Analyst, Application Architect, Database Architect, Developer and Trainer. Jan is experienced in waterfall, iterative and object methodologies, as well as delivering operational project offices. Jan has a natural ability to identify, understand, and expand upon core business drivers through interactions and observations at the organizational level while embracing a holistic approach that addresses the people and process elements of the solution environment. The wide variety of projects Jan has proposed and managed, combined with her strong business process orientation, has helped her develop a broad understanding of how success is measured and IT investments are evaluated.

Remarkably, Jan’s interest in the effective use of computers to solve business problems developed in her 8th-grade year. She satisfied her interest when she completed her BBA in the comprehensive major of Management Information Systems at the UW-Eau Claire, a university that is well-known for its business perspective on information technology education. After graduating, she honed the skills learned in college as a project manager in the IT department of Northwestern Mutual, where she became a Fellow of the Life Management Institute. Jan managed progressively challenging IT projects in her 14 years there, helping them deliver marketing, billing, collection, underwriting, new hire, customer service, architecture, project office, contract administration, and application support solutions. Jan indulged her desire to continue learning by joining a high-quality professional services consulting firm in 1999, and has expanded her experience and knowledge in the healthcare, brewing, and financial services industries delivering solutions in procurement, distance learning and project management. She has managed projects that deliver solutions by developing custom software, selecting and integrating purchased software, redefining and implementing new business processes, and managing organizational change. She has in-depth experience helping clients achieve their business objectives through all phases of the solution delivery lifecycle, and excels at putting structure on ambiguity.

In addition, Jan has authored several articles describing effective IT project management approaches, tips and techniques, and has earned her Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute. Jan is also an invited speaker at the Milwaukee chapter of the Project Management Institute.
